On 14 October Ben Hammond gave the first ever LearnBurma talk and interview at St Edwards School, Oxford, on Thursday.  The school run the International Baccalaureate programme, and one group of inspirational, inquisitive and articulate young 6th formers decided to focus their IB project on Burma, and so got in touch.  After facing their thorough questioning, Ben went on to give an hour’s talk to 60 students from the school’s very active Amnesty Group.

Here are some of the comments from those that took part:

“It was brilliant!” – Teacher

“Ben engaged with the entire room and it really felt like he was talking to us rather than at us. He was very open and honest about his experiences making it all the more thought provoking.” – Student

“Ben made me really want to go out and do something meaningful afterwards.” – Student

“It’s a fantastic idea to practise our freedom for that of others.”
– Student

“Ben was the best speaker I’ve ever listened to.” – Student

“The whole afternoon was so inspiring and so useful for us.” – Teacher
